I watched this video in Wired Science,a new program of PBS. A software engineer from MIT developed a software that can read almost 60% of facial expressions. This software helps to improve communications skills in person with some sort of communications disorder.
This cutting edge technology can very helpful for our guest speaker from University of Hawaii and the content for her dissertation:Teaching with technology learning research.

Mauricio, this video was quite fascinating. Just this week I was the teacher conducting yard duty during recess at my school. I asked a girl to get off the play structure in order to let other children have a turn.
She asked me, "Why?"
I explained, "Well, the other children want to play on it too."
She didn't seem to understand, and I began to get a little agitated. She continued not to understand my directions, so then I told her she had to get off, and that she was "benched" for the rest of the recess. I informed her classroom teacher that her student was being belligerent and not following directions! It turns out she is slightly autistic, and obviously could not decipher my feelings or expressions when I was giving her a command. It was a learning experience for me.
